"The Africas that Bahia sings" is the plot of Estação Primeira d

The Estação Primeira de Mangueira performs again on the avenue with a narrative of black protagonism in its carnival of 2023.
With the theme “As África que a Bahia sings”, green and pink will show the constructions of the visions of Africa in Bahia from its musicality and black carnival institutions, highlighting the female role in this process and the struggles against intolerance, racism and for the strengthening of Afro-Brazilian identity.

Mangueira will address passages from the black history of carnival that are not very widespread in the chronological constructions of the party, with the pre and post abolition processions of slavery, such as cucumbis and black clubs, rescuing ancestral knowledge and practices, the struggles for the insertion and recognition of the Afro-Brazilian carnival culture. ; the clashes against religious and racial intolerance of the Afoxés; the denunciations of social inequality by the art of the Afro blocks; the expansion of Afrobaianity through axé songs.
All these processes, led with protagonism by black women, mothers, goddesses, queens who used their “bodies” and voices telling, praising and singing for and for their people.

Samba-enredo for carnival 2023 is not yet available.
