Viradouro launched on Thursday night (23) its plot for Carnival 2021. With the title 'There is no sadness that can endure so much joy', the school will talk about the Carnival of 1919, an atypical carnival that lasted about 21 days.
 The plot is inspired by the chronicler Rui Costa.

The 1919 carioca revelry is considered the greatest Carnival of the century. The party that year is similar to that of 2021. It took place after the Spanish flu and the world war and was a great affection for the population that lived sad days.
In 1919, there were still no samba schools and the revelry was dominated by marchinhas. Among the highlights of the party that year, there was the first performance of Cordão do Bola Preta.

For President Marcelinho Calil, the theme has the face of the school and dialogues with the current moment in the world, sending a message of hope. "We are going to tell a story of great joy".
