The Acadêmicos do Grande Rio samba school won the Rio de Janeiro carnival contest for the first time. He suffered in the 2022 count: Grande Rio did not lead from end to end and saw Beija-Flor de Nilópolis take the lead in two questions. From the middle to the end, it only gave Caxias. The deserved title came with 269.9 points, or almost a successful parade — the only tenth lost was in samba-enredo.

Grande Rio ranked first, followed by Beija-Flor (2nd place), Viradouro (3rd place), Vila Isabel (4th place) and Portela (5th place). With a cohesive plot and tuned drums, the samba school wowed Marques de Sapucaí on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
At the beginning of the parade, the honoree of the night, EXU, left the commission head on and climbed in an allegory that symbolized the top of the world. From above the terrestrial globe, the divinity triumphed in the sapucaí. The drums from Grande Rio wowed the audience by putting on a show with the "paradinhas", thus making a parade worthy of the title.
